Day 21 - O'Charleys

Not very exciting - but we are FINALLY getting a few restaurants in Guntersville. For the longest time it was only fast food.

One of my web design clients took me out to lunch last week - it was actually the first time I'd been to O'Charleys - the potatoe soup was WONDERFUL.

Day 20 - the Pig

... or at least that's what it's known as around here. It's really "Piggly Wiggly" our grocery store. We don't have a lot of choices in the grocery store department around here - it's basically the Pig or WalMart of one other whose name escapes me - unless one wants to drive to Huntsville for groceries. Of course, the Pig has been around forever, so is pretty much an institution.

Day 19 - Fluffy the cat

It's another 'kitty day' for me as I haven't even been outside today. This is "Fluffy". She thinks she's queen of the world! She is actually a rescued barn cat with a major attitude. She's been inside since about 2 months old and she's currently 9 or 10 (I can't remember for sure). She was here before Belle and Frosty and definitely before Emma Grace - and she didn't particularly appreciate all those interlopers coming into her territory.

She's really a gorgeous cat - the vet calls her a gray calico and she definitely has long hair. Looked nothing like any of the other barn cats we ever had - I'll post her mother's picture another day.

In the second photo she's sitting in my bedroom window. It's one of her favorite spots - I'm amazed she allowed Emma Grace to be that close to her.

Day 18 - Walking Trail

This is one of three walking trails in town - two are along the water's edge with gorgeous views, the other is the levee that I've already posted. This one is 3-1/2 miles (round trip) and there are benches, picnic tables and parking areas all along it. Really a lovely walk.

Day 17 - Emma Grace

Well, I mentioned Emma Grace in my post yesterday, but failed to show her - so here she is. She is the nosiest cat I've ever seen - and generally into everything! She drives Fluffy crazy (a photo of Fluffy later).

The first shot is taken in the new den (aka my exercise room). She decided she needed grooming while I was cycling this AM, and tried to get in the sun that was shining on the rug. The second one is in the living room.

Day 16 - My New Recumbent Bicycle

I'm so proud of myself!! - and today is inside shots. Guess that's okay since I'm not going out today :)

I've had this new recumbent bicycle for a couple of weeks and was waiting for my son to come and put it together for me (came in a LARGE box). Well, his visit was delayed and I decided I could "do this myself" - and so I did!!! I really hate reading instructions - and these weren't the clearest I've ever seen, but I managed. Only got one part wrong and discovered that when I sat on it - easily correctable.

You'll also see the ab lounger, which I've had for "while" and just been able to start using since getting my port out.

The second photo is more of the same room - I have a small TV across the room that I can watch while riding. Nothing fancy - but hopefully will help pass the time. This was a bedroom that I've recently redone into a "den" to accommodate my exercise stuff. There's a futon that kids can still sleep on when family comes. For some reason Emma Grace has adopted this room as her own and was extremely interested in my activities today.

I've just finished my first 5 minute workout on the bike - I know that doesn't sound like much, but it's a start. Five minutes on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and 10 minutes on Tuesday/Thursday. That goes up each week until I'm at at least an hour.

Day 15 - Savannah Place

Spiffy new subdivision on the mountain. So spiffy they haven't sold any lots yet - or at least there's no activity there. It's a gated community and I understand has lots of restrictions. We're not far from the hospital and I suspect they were hoping to get some doctors, etc. We do have doctors on the mountain - but most have acreage and don't want restrictions. I pass this way when I'm going to church.

Anyway, this is a lovely entrance - my photo doesn't do the waterfall justice at all.
