Day 16 - My New Recumbent Bicycle

I'm so proud of myself!! - and today is inside shots. Guess that's okay since I'm not going out today :)

I've had this new recumbent bicycle for a couple of weeks and was waiting for my son to come and put it together for me (came in a LARGE box). Well, his visit was delayed and I decided I could "do this myself" - and so I did!!! I really hate reading instructions - and these weren't the clearest I've ever seen, but I managed. Only got one part wrong and discovered that when I sat on it - easily correctable.

You'll also see the ab lounger, which I've had for "while" and just been able to start using since getting my port out.

The second photo is more of the same room - I have a small TV across the room that I can watch while riding. Nothing fancy - but hopefully will help pass the time. This was a bedroom that I've recently redone into a "den" to accommodate my exercise stuff. There's a futon that kids can still sleep on when family comes. For some reason Emma Grace has adopted this room as her own and was extremely interested in my activities today.

I've just finished my first 5 minute workout on the bike - I know that doesn't sound like much, but it's a start. Five minutes on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and 10 minutes on Tuesday/Thursday. That goes up each week until I'm at at least an hour.

Good for you, Iris!

This reminded me of Jim Qwilleran's "upside down" bicycle in the "Cat Who" books. Good for you for putting it together, Iris! If it were left to me, it would still be in the box!

You know - those Cat books were the first time I'd ever heard of a recumbent bicycle. They're supposed to be easier on the back.

Okay, I'm confused -- who is Emma Grace? I thought cat, maybe? But I don't see a small animal in the photo. I see a few elephants, but ???

Oh I want one of those bikes SO BAD. I have the regular exercise bike, but I've sat on one like you got and loved it. I hope you'll enjoy it!

Emma Grace IS a cat, she just wasn't in the pictures (duhhh me). And, there are several elephants in the room - have to put my collections somewhere and I'm overrun with elephants.

How do you do ebay and still have a clean house? I'm so jealous.
Just the fact you can see your furniture is wonderful.

Congrats on getting the bike together - I assign assembly jobs to either DH or DD, whoever gets home first, they have a real knack for reading those convoluted instructions.

Yeah, now that I think of it --- Jim Qwilleran did have that bike, didn't they. I haven't read any of his books in a long time -- are there new ones? Did he marry his librarian girlfriend? The cats are both still alive? Gosh, I miss those books --- I might have to check the bookstore now.
