Day 8 - Floating Condos

These are advertised as floating condos - I'd love to see inside one. One end is open to the water and the other backs up to a dock. There are a LOT of them. I assume they're for vacationeers (and we have a lot of them) as the condos look pretty small for daily living and would probably be pretty nippy in the wintertime.

How cute! They look like little houseboats. I wouldn't want to be inside one in a storm!

What a neat idea. If I was visiting your area, I'd love to stay in one -- wait, do they have air conditioning, though?

I don't know about the AC - though I can't imagine them being very comfty in the summer in Alabama without it.

And don't think I'd want to be in them in a storm either - though there's another marina in town where a good number of people do live on their boats (but probably considerably bigger boats - I'll have to take a ride over there one day and see).

I LOVE THESE! I always wanted to live on a boat (houseboat, sailboat, barge, any kind of boat).
Always thought I'd love to sell everything and buy a sailboat, dock it somewhere in the Caribbean, or off Florida. Of course it would be even more feasible if I knew how to sail.
Or even the names of stuff on boats
(port, starboard, jig thingies, masts, stuff like that).
I could probably handle one of these little floatie condos though!

I have stayed in one of these condo's. Once you get used to the smell of the sewer system, they're not really all that bad. A little cramped for room, but convienient if you own or rent a boat.
The lake itself is fantastic.

Hey Anonymous that posted on June 27, 2010! You are so right...many of those smell like a sewer system......and cramped for room BUT the one in the photo that is larger was built by P Talley Floating cabin homes and was much nicer!

Hi! Regarding the floating condos, it is a beautiful and neat place to stay! We've stayed a few times. A few years ago we asked about the sewage. At the time, management said it was the lines. Over time, I guess they fixed it. The last time we stayed in a floating condo (this past summer 2012), I did not smell sewage or anything like that. The stay was pleasant. Some friends of ours stayed this past September 2012 and they said they had a great time. No mention of sewer problems. They said their kids enjoyed feeding the ducks and swimming in the lake!

the condos are great. They have air and heat. They have a bedroom, bathroom, a cute little living room with ajoining kitchen. The kitchen has refrig with freezer sink and stove and a little booth that's cozy. Sliding glass doors are facing the water with a little porch. Love staying here. They were 110 a night when we stayed last month.
