Day 43 - Georgia Mtn Volunteer Fire Dept

This is the local volunteer fire department - I can almost see it from my house.

Guntersville has a paid department, but there are many volunteer departments around the county who make a major contribution to fire safety.

Our town had a little paid dept, but 90% of the fire fighters are volunteer. Both the EMT and the fire/rescue folks get paid $10 per run (to cover gas, which nowadays is enough to get them to the end of their driveway).; August 24, 2008 at 4:19 PM
