Day 42 - Glover Hotel

This lovely building sits right next to the old Post Office downtown and was the town's original hotel. It's not a restaurant and has meeting space. I'm so pleased they've saved it and are using it.

Day 41 - New Post Office

And this is the new PO. Yeah, it's shiny and new with brick, glass & shiny metals - smaller and no character.

NOTE ADDED: I'm so annoyed, I've worked so hard not to miss a day and just discovered this post didn't go through last night. Wonderful "charter" and their blips.

Day 40 - Old Post Office

I love this building - it's downtown and made of marble. Lobby is what you'd expect that type of building to be. Alas - it's not the post office any longer. I understand the city will eventually do something with it. We have a shiny 'new' post office - that's inconvenient to get to, and has unpleasant workers (I think most of the ones from the old PO retired - can't say I blame them). They built the new PO because the old one wasn't big enough (or what wa their excuse anyway). The fact that the new one is smaller than the old one apparently escapes the notice of the planners.

Day 39 - 'The Debi Sue'

Had to run an errand on the way to work this morning and it took me by the city dock - and there sat "The Debi Sue" - paddlewheeler. I believe this is a boat that someone lives on. The sign said "built in 1929, rebuilt in 2007". I loved the stacks (or whatever they're called) on the top.

Day 38 - Guntersville tennis courts

Tennis courts are right next to Senior Center (convenient for all those little ole seniors who play tennis with their walkers and crutches). Both are right on the lake and do have nice views. Those 'trees' are white crepe myrtles.

Day 37 - Guntersville Senior Center

It's really more attractive on the outside than on the inside - but nice enough. I'm qualified - but never go there (it has old people).

We have a good number of retirees in the area - and of course, this facility is used for other community activities too.

Day 36 - Garden Center

I drive by this garden center on my way to and from church every week. Lots of concrete yard stuff - and they have an interesting gift shop inside.

I was especially taken by the 'contrast' below - newish John Deere tractor and vintage (this is truly vintage) buggy.
