Day 164

Another giant fishing lure. There are a lot of them, I need to get around and get a few more pics.

Day 163 - Large Fishing Lure

I know - this was originally supposed to be 365 consecutive days - but obviously I'm not going to make that - but will try for 365 anyway.

Today's photo is of a rather large fishing lure - did I mention Guntersville Lake is a great fishing lake. The Bassmasters hold all kinds of tournaments here.




This spring the Chamber of Commerce sponsored these lures and they're all along the walking trails. Individuals were allowed to come and help paint portions of them when they first went up.


SO, we'll be having pictures of a few of them for several days now....

Day 129 - Sunshine

This was my view crossing the causeway this morning heading into work. Took the photo thru the windsheild (hence the spots) as it was too cold to get out and stand in the wind.

Day 127 - Sea Gulls

It was a cold, breezy morning and the sea gulls were going nuts along the causeway as I drove to work this morning. If you enlarge the photo you can see some of their antics.

Day 123 - Sailboats

Picture NOT taken today. Today is gray, windy and rainy. However, I did take this picture on my way home one day last week. I just love the colored sail boats.

Day 117 - More Fall

It'll be gone soon - the leaves are falling really fast. This is the view across the side road from my house.

Day 110 - choppy water

It's been pretty breezy here the last few days and the water was choppy this morning. The sea gulls seemed to like it though - you can see a few of them if you enlarge the photo.

Day 95 - Boat Launching

A lot of these signs around our area. I stopped on the way to work this morning and took this photo through my windshield. That's a low mountain in the distance and 'haze' (better known around here as humidity).

Day 81 - Sail boat marina

I drive by this sailboat marina anytime I go into town. There haven't been many out on the lake lately. I think most of these owners live elsewhere and just come on the weekends - and I try to avoid going to town on the weekends.

Day 72 - River Bridge

This is the view across the street from the Chamber of Commerce - looking out across the river bridge (Tennessee River). I have no idea what kind of flowers these are growing along the bank and the tree - but they sure were pretty.

Day 71 - Chamber of Commerce

Posted the sign yesterday, today's the building. It sits to the right just as you come off the causeway from the river bridge.

Day 69 - Jaycee Pavillion

Nice picnic pavillion just across the street from the fishing pier that I pictured on Day 66.

Day 66 - Fishing Pier

This is the public fishing pier in Guntersville. It's been there forever - my oldest kids used to fish from it when they visited my parents, though it's been redone in the last few years, it still looks exactly like it did all those years ago.

Day 59 - View from my mountain

Well technically it isn't "my" mountain - but I live on it and my great-great-grandfather brought the folks who settled it - so I've always felt like it was mine.

That is one of the gorgeous views - not from my house. When my great-great-grandfather came here after the civil war, the location he choose for his home was not a view (though the lake wasn't there then anyway), but a location he considered safer.

There's a new subdivision being developed :( and I drove into it to get this photo.

Day 53 - Boat launch sign

Not real impressive - but I pass this boat launch sign everytime I go to town. Apparently it's maintained by the Jaycees.

Day 39 - 'The Debi Sue'

Had to run an errand on the way to work this morning and it took me by the city dock - and there sat "The Debi Sue" - paddlewheeler. I believe this is a boat that someone lives on. The sign said "built in 1929, rebuilt in 2007". I loved the stacks (or whatever they're called) on the top.

Day 38 - Guntersville tennis courts

Tennis courts are right next to Senior Center (convenient for all those little ole seniors who play tennis with their walkers and crutches). Both are right on the lake and do have nice views. Those 'trees' are white crepe myrtles.

Day 35 - Humidity on the lake

This photo is not because of the camera - it's the humidity :) This was taken as we drove into town yesterday... and it's how it looks much of the time. Our lovely views are not clear and bright, but hazy with humidity. And this was a nice sunny day. Things close around you are crisp and clear - but the distance views are almost always hazy. It's amazing that I got the nice clear photo that I've used at the top of the blog.... it's always such a nice surprise when the humidity is lower and the views brighter.

Day 12 - Levee Walking Trail

Not as picturesque as some of the areas here - but it is frequently used. I've never walked it - first of all, it's "up" and the trail is steep to get to it and second there's no shade. I think the walkers who use it go pretty early in the morning.

The little pavilion is shaded, but the bench is in the sun - go figure! It does offer a good view of the water though.

Day 9 - view from the "Dock"

Almost too tired to post today, good thing I already had a couple of photos. I've been at the hospital all day with a friend (and her family) who had a double knee replacement. LONG day.

Anyway, this photo was taken from the dock that I walked out on to see the floating condos. It's looking back toward the shore and our new (and wonderful) Wentzels Oyster House.
